in memory of Dad

My Dad passed away last week. He'd been in failing health for some time and just kind of slipped away after Mom passed 4 years ago. This is the two of them on a New Year's Eve sometime in the 1970's.
Dad was not much of a gardener, and although my Mom tried her darnedest to turn him into one, it just wasn't his thing. Even so, I spent a couple of afternoons this week planting flowers while I thought of him. I don't know which would represent him best, so I planted a little of each of all the seeds I had.
As it turns out, a friend of ours in Vancouver passed away on the same day, at nearly the exact same time. His name was Randy Rask and he worked with Art at the City of Vancouver. He was a really nice guy. Full of life and laughter. So, I planted some seeds for him, too.

So sorry to hear about your dad. It is amazing (and wonderful), how, even after our parents are gone, they are still so much in our lives. Planting flowers seems like a wonderful way to cope with the sadness that comes when you lose someone important in your life. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers at this sad time. - Midge

I am sorry to hear about your Dad but how great that you were down and had a chance to visit with him such a short time ago. It's funny I think no matter how old we are when our last parent passes we suddenly feel like an orphan. I will say a prayer for you and your family.\

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this, my deepest sympathies to you. I have a tree in my backyard that my dad had planted - it was just a tiny little seedling when he died. It's now 13 years old and I will not be able to take the tree with me when we move, but I am enjoying it as long as we live here.

Keep us posted on your plant's progress. And thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I'm glad you have a nice place to plant their little seedlings, though. Take good care. We're thinking of you.
