It was one year ago today that I had to get that drastic haircut.....

Wow! You did great on the regrowth! As you may recall, all through my childhood I had waist length hair, I cut it at 17 (before grad) and then let it grow again. Since my 30's I've had all sorts of styles. But I feel most like myself with dark brown hair with some length. So I do know what you mean! Good for you, and it's very nice and shiny and healthy too! Thanks for the comparison photos.
